FLOOR

Depending on the floor condition, I sometimes just use foamboard adhesive to hold everything in place. A full, large size tube per sheet

per layer.Probably more expensive material wise than Tapcons, but faster, and I dont have potentially hundreds of holes in the slab.

You may get a few different answers. Heres the BEST way, in my opinion:

In order:

Waterproof the entire OUTSIDE of the foundation wall-new properly installed weepers and backfilled properly.
2" XPS foamboard glued to the foundation on the inside up to the underside of the joists.
1" foamboard glued to the floor.
5/8" T&G OSB subfloor glued to the foamboard
2x4 stud wall against the foamboard. .
Now have the rim joist area spray foamed to the point just past the front of the studs.
Electrical, plumbing , etc.
Roxul in the ceiling and walls.
Drywall.

I did 12 screws per sheet, focusing on the edges where the two sheets meet so they do not have any flex there.
If the floor was a bit uneven, I added a few more screws where necessary.
Another tip - use the 3/16" screws for most of your work, but if you have a spot that is having problems use a 1/4" screw. Doesn't sound like much difference but it is huge compared to the 3/16" and has way more holding power.
Gencon recommends glue, but Mike Holmes says no glue on the floor. Both have valid points for pros and cons. My basement floor was not 100% perfect, so I am happy I went with screws because it allowed me to conform the OSB to the floor better and avoid any bouncy spots.

Pony Wall

http://oee.nrcan.gc.ca/residential/personal/new-home-improvement/choosing/insulation-sealing/basement/khi-inbasement.cfm?attr=4

Insulating a pony wall.

A pony wall consists of short sections of wood frame wall sitting on top of a conventional concrete foundation. Insulate the wood-frame

section between the studs, and insulate the concrete section on the interior (if there are no moisture problems). The insulation on the

concrete is extended up about 20 cm (8 in.) to overlap with the frame section. A ledge is created at this point (see illustration above).

Re: Renovating the basement, question about subfloor.

1) 5/8" T&G OSB works best. You need the T&G because you dont have support under the seams to fasten to.

2)Put your 2" foam on the walls first, then your subfloor gets completed , then you build your walls on top of the OSB. Gives you

something to nail the bottom plate to.Seal the joint between your wall foam and floor foam.

3)The subfloor foam will go right against the wall foam. seal this joint-PL300 (foam board adhesive), caulking, canned spray foam or

sheething tape.

4)IF your basement floor is very level, you can get away with just gluing the OSB on top of the foamboard. You may need a Tapcon or 2 for

a couple of spots if there is a depression. If the floor is quite uneven then its a good idea to secure the whole thing down with

Tapcons.

5)You can use a foamboard subfloor and tradition insulated 2x4 stud wall with vb. Not a problem. Remeber to install housewrap against the

foundation first. Logo out.

6)If using 2" of XPS, it will act as the VB so the layer of 6mil poly on the inside is not required.
Do it once. Do it smart.
